A Library is a repository of knowledge. It helps in opening new horizons of knowledge and inspires to explore, achieve and contribute to improving our quality of life. Basilius Central Library offers students and the faculty an excellent selection of books, journals, magazines, Reference Books, Previous year question papers, CDs and DVDs, Bound Voulmes of Journals and magazines and other e-resources. The Library has a collection of more than 8000 books and subscribes to prominent journals and periodicals around the world. The Library is located in the main campus with a total area of 500Sq.m. Library starts functioning at 8 AM to 6 PM on all days except Sundays and other official holidays.The Library is fully automated with the integrated library management software KOHA (Version: 20.05 on 25/11/2020). Wi-Fi facility is available in the library. To encourage e-reading habits of the students Kindle device is made available for the students.
JPM Arts and Science college is registered for the N-LIST programme, which is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under the National Mission on Education through ICT. The authorized users from college can access e-resources and download articles required by them directly from the publisher’s website once they are duly authenticated as authorized users through servers deployed at the INFLIBNET Centre. Through NLIST programme students and faculty of our college can access more than 1,99,500 e-books and more than 6000 e-journals anywhere at any time. Another e-resource eNotes,has also been subscribed by Basilius central Library.It specialises in question-and-answer study materials in Literature and Humanities. eNotes provide more than 30000 book summaries, analyses and criticisms written by experts and short answer questions. Another highly commendable service provided by Basilius Central Library is DAISY-AUDIO LIBRARY for the print disabled students in association with Federation of the Blind, Kerala. DAISY-AUDIO LIBRARY comprises of three other software-NVDA (screen reader), AMIS (free-open-source software program that can be used to read DAISY books) and Audacity (digital audio editor and recording application software). It has a collection of 186 books including short stories, novels etc in Malayalam language. By providing the right information to the right user at the right time Basilius Central Library satisfies the thirst and curiosity for Knowledge of the JPM academic community.
